First Visit Procedures

• Complete New Patient Paperwork
• Vitals (i.e. blood pressure, pulse) and brief description of problem as given to Chiropractic Assistant
• Doctor’s interview of patient: chief complaint history, past health history, review of systems, family health history, social/personal history
• Examination of patient: posture, range of motion, chiropractic, orthopedic and neurological exams
• Imaging of patient (if deemed necessary). We refer to Vermont Radiologists and Fletcher Allen Healthcare.
• Time frame for initial visit: 45 minutes to 1 hour

Report of Findings:

• A detailed explanation of patient’s problem
  • How long care will take
  • What prognosis is
  • What patient can expect
  • What is the patient’s responsibility for stretching, exercise, and diet
• Review of x-rays or advanced imaging, discuss if chiropractic care is appropriate for their problem
• If so, a treatment plan outlining both the doctor’s and patient’s role in the healing process (patient’s at home stretches and exercises).
• Treatment usually takes place on this visit and subsequent visits thereafter
